Digg arguments continue
One of the downsides of the web 2.0 social networking and social bookmarking sites is the need for some sort of civil order. I’ve been surprised, actually, in how relatively mild the intra-site nastiness has been overall. Of course there have been some nasty things on Myspace like radio shock jock Laura Schlessinger’s son’s page.
But […]

Feedburner sells out to Google
Lately I’ve been telling Jessica how much I like Feedburner, but it is hard to explain why you need another subscription feed when most blogs output one or two or three feeds automatically. But that’s why Feedburner is successful–because even in its free acoounts it allows a very cool range of features for optimizing […]

Don’t get on that thing wasted, Newsom!
Gavin Newsom must not want his drunk ass knocked off his bike when riding through the TL.
We need safe streets so the mayor can find biking an acceptable alternative to drinking. It must be why that fashionable “broken windows” or whatever theory (which among other things gives Republican frontrunner Rudy Giuliani credit for […]

Pictures of Mountain Lake Park
We really love Mountain Lake Park–and though this nighttime picture offers just an impression of a mysterious lagoon with Highway 1 in the background, these other pictures give a sense of the beauty and views of wildlife that the park offers.

Japanese Garden Fish
Colorful fish swim all around one another with turtles and ducks (the ducks are actually in the wings of this photo–they’re visible in this picture from the same pond) looking for their share of the fodder for themselves.

The Labour Restoration
Gordon Brown’s comments in recent days make it clear that he intends to move away from Tony Blair’s mistaken, uncritical support of America’s current foreign policy. As reported in the New York Times on May 11:
‘Bolstered by a long-awaited endorsement from Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Britain’s prime minister-in-waiting, moved quickly on Friday […]

Fedde le Grand plays San Francisco
Jessica and I checked out the show last night at the Supper Club in San Francisco, where rising Dutch DJ superstar Fedde le Grand entertained a highly enthusiastic crowd.
Definitely the best DJ we’ve seen in a long time.

Is a widget just a widget?
Then twenty or so widgets on my site are just twenty or so widgets. Do I have a weakness for them, or all they all just so necessary for a modern blog that I would be missing out being without any single one of them?
I enjoyed Jessica’s commentary about widgetbox.com, which reads in part:
‘As a […]

I’ve put “Simple Tagging 1.6.2″ on the blog now–yes Wordpress has categories included, which are very useful, but this plug-in adds a separate tag functionality (and then mashes them all back together for the feed at the end of the day). Though I can’t say I find the plug-in very simple, it looks like […]

Sunny day for the Street Faire
We checked out the “Howard/How Weird Street Faire” today in SoMa. Different stages were set up with DJs. I enjoyed the psy-trance music section, and then Jessica and I hung out in the sun next to the breakdancing floor–it was really festive, but the heat was intense–an extremely sunny, hot day for San Francisco.
It won’t […]
